I have a 1999 f250 with the 6.8 V10 engine, I think the cylinder head temp sensor is bad. I found one on the drivers side head under the intake manifold, near the thermostat housing. Does anyone know if there is more than one sensor? Also will I have to remove the intake to replace it or can I sneak it out without removing the intake? Thanks
All I did was remove the alternator, cut a 3/4 inch wrench and did a little bending to it to get the right angle. Takes some patience but it can be done without removeing the intake.
As far as there being a 2nd one to the best of my knowledge there is not, but then again I'm getting the same code again so don't hold me to it.
My memory says I found what looked like two coolant temp sensors while I had engine apart.... I was thinking one for ECU and one for temp gauge. As for where they were, my memory is far less helpful. I was working on BMW's and Nissans at the same time. I remember the one you describe... But the other? I got nothing... sorry.
The one is right on top next to where the thermostat is.
The cylinder head temp sensor is under the intake, if you remove the alterator and are facing the truck from the front it will be to the right under the intake.
