There is no cost effective way, just keep your truck Well maintained and ease up on the gas pedal.

CAI will not do much for the v10 as the stock system is pretty good. Headers and y-pipe will give you a little better gas miliage but would take you years to make up cost.

Left out a tuner, a few members here claim that they have gained a little better mpg's.

your right foot will make the biggest difference, but the V10 is not going to give you anything considered great. thats just life lol

Plus realize going from 10 MPG to 11 MPG is a 10% improvement
so don't expect to get 14 or 15MPG by putting "something" on the Ex.

Don't press down so hard on the pedal, and lift and coast to stop lights.
As Alaskan said, you control the MPG with your right foot.

You can spend a week being good, and in 1 jack rabbit start undo
your entire week of saving.

MPG is also relative. I paid more $$$ for the PSD vs. a V10.
The selling point of the v10 is cheaper gas vs. the price of diesel
for the PSD. But, with the long distances I drive, I wanted the PSD.

I've gone as many as 814 miles on a tank, and always get at least 700.

Selling "cheap" gas gusslers is a way to keep people beholden to the
fuel companies.

The "expensive" PSD trucks keep the mechanics/filter folks in business!

Enjoy what you have now - in 20 years who knows what people
who don't OWN an Ex will be driving then!!???

Rest assured the factory has spent millions on extracting every bit of mpg out of it. But wait! there is those magnets you put on the fuel line a guy was selling at the flea market!
