OK,a buddy gave us a crossover pipe and downpipe for a 7.3 turbo.I need to know what is involved in replacing the stocker. The stock pipe looks to be a flanged end and the replacement pipe is straight on both ends.
going to guess you have a stock ford turbo/ATS. You would need the upgraded exhaust housing along with that down pipe. On the upgrade it is a slip fit where the old style is a flange fit. see below, first is the new upgrade flange and below that is the old style flange housing.
So it will not work with the stock housing?I guess I can try to find the housing for it or maybe I could adapt it some way.Where would I find the housing?
i dont believe ATS makes it anymore, it would have to be a fab job or find a used ats turbo with the upgraded housing. I am not sure though to be honest. I still have the old housing from my ATS and i have looked at ways to make it fit the new down pipe and it would most likely be a hack job.
OK,my 17 yr. old son wanted to do the welding on the pipe so I let him weld on HIS project. He's done a little welding on flat stuff, fillet welds and so on.The pipe is a little different but he got it done.It doesn't fit too bad,no ratles or bangs. We don't really know how much it helped though. It now has the 3" mandrel bent dp and the bigger mandrel bent crossover with 5" going to the big stack he just had to have.I think it needs timed cause we moved it when we first got it.It smoothed the idle and took care of the smoking at idle.
