Which Gauges (range)

Looking at gauges and there are allot of options. Accross those options there are many more options. I have a 2000 7.3 and am looking to get a pyro/egt , Trans Temp and Boost gauge but need input on the normal truck operating ranges and you selection on the gauge size. Please explain why you select that size. Please recommend something if it is not listed. Thanks

I annotated the ones I was leaning towards...

Pyro/egt
0-1500
0-1600
0-2000
0-2400

Boost
-20 to 30
-20 to 35
0 to 35
0 to 60

Trans Temp
0 - 150
0 - 250

Thanks

Depends on your mods and what you are building it to do.

For Pyro, I recommend (and run) a 0-1600* guage. The highest you want to see sustained is 1250*, and peaks of maybe 1400* for brief periods. Also the 0-1600 will be easier to read than a 0-2000.

For Boost, I recommend a 0-35psi for most builds (I don't run a boost gauge). If you already know you're going to up the turbo and injectors and think you'll ever cap 40+ then get the 0-60psi. Again the 0-35 will be easier to read, and if it pegs you probably won't be watching the gauges. You don't ever really have vaccum in these trucks to worry about monitoring it.

Trans Temp, you'll want a 100-250 (similar to mine). On my 5R110 I'm usually around 160-170* empty, and you don't want ATF over 220* as at that point its breaking down quickly.

I agree depends on what you are doing but most go like this
Pyro:0-1600
Boost:0-35/40
Trans, definately not 150 most 100-250 is prime.

I'd go with this setup from Clay, Riffraff Diesel: RDP Triple Gauge Kit, comes with everything you need, as well as option to have it color matched as well as GPR indicator.

Don't forget to peruse the 7.3 forum, www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum31 we are a great bunch of guys/gals that enjoy spending other peoples money LOL seriously though so many that have tried various things and prices and are honest about saving money where needed or spending a little extra where it is needed as well.
