I cleaned the new (to me) X today and took it for a drive. This is the second X I've had and has a 3 gauge A pillar pack. It's fitted with Exhaust Gas Temp, Boost, and Trans Temp gauges. What should I consider the normal range for these gauges? Today I had an EGT of 4-600 deg F, Boost of 0-10, and Tranny temps low at around 100-120?
Install the EGT probe in the drivers side exhaust manifold pre-turbo. Post-turbo EGT probes are not useful for primary exhaust gas temperature readings.
My tranny runs just about exactly 100 more than the outside air when not towing anything too big.
Boost sounds about right for normal driving, not towing. Can get it up near 20 lbs if you stay on it, esp with load.
But then watch your EGT. most will say don't go over 1200 for more than a few seconds. Shouldn't see that unless pulling something heavy up hill. 700 is about the most I normally see on the highway.
