I live out in the country surrounded by a bunch of little 2 lane roads. All of the city folk who move out to, or drive through the country believe they need to do it as fast as possible. It's been that way for years. What's got me concerned lately is the number of one vehicle roll overs I've seen on the sides of the road. I suspect it's from texting while driving since these have all happened in the day time on nice weather days. The part that concerns me is, how many times did they weave over the yellow line before they finally rolled over in the bar ditch and what if I'm coming the other way when they decide to weave over? Glad to hear you were paying attention and things worked out for the idiot this time.

Note to self: Watch out for Plumbers next time going through West Texas.

It has always amazed me how little respect (right word?) people seem to have large vehicles. I think they need to add a true/false question to the driver's exam:

True or False: A vehicle which weighs more than 10 times an average car can stop in the same distance as an average car?

Anyway, I'm also glad no one got hurt, too. I'd have felt really bad if the oncoming car had been hit.

And thanks for the plumbers tip in Texas

Also, since this is an off-topic thread anyway, I thought I should mention that it's "coke can tabs" as opposed to "pop can tabs".

on a little more serious note...
I was cruising down 2 way road through my home town and some guy tried passing me...which is funny since I was cruising 65..unloaded, but this story does not end up funny.
But anyway this Benz had to be coming up on me around 80 and counting. Right as he zips into the left lane a GMC 3500 flat bed pulls off a side road to the right (facing the benz)..well as most of these things go. It was a split second thing, but the GMC was only partially turned so this Benz hit the GMC right front corner passenger side at 94 MPH is what the report estimated. I had still been cruising cuz i tend to just let em pass..so this happened a good 10 yards behind my left side. Well all I remember is the dam Benz nearly landing in my truck bed because it hit the front corner of the gmc and flipped over the hood in the air a good 30 feet or so... the GMC was just spun around on the ground (didnt even tip haha.. it had a lot of weight on the bed).
Well I stopped...got the emergency people there. The GMC driver was just shook up real bad.. no broken bones just a minor concussion. The Benz driver I couldnt do anything for... it looked the length of a smart car from the engine compartment being smashed so far back..

People need to learn driving isnt all fun and games. Trying to get there 5 minutes earlier could get you killed 5 years sooner.

Same with railroad crossings, risk their lives to save a few minutes, doesn't make sense.

To make it worst, Hollywood makes it look glamorous to 'beat a train'!!

the disc brakes are nice, BUT they are hydraulic. you see em on boat trailers cause they just use the same braking system as the uhaul trailers (surge brakes) where their own weight pushing against the truck pushes the master cylinder. you can do a electric over hydraulic braking system but not sure how much they cost.

i live in the country.... there was about 5 cars in a row (me in the rear) and we were goin the speed limit 55mph. its all 2 lane roads out here, some jerk (illegal mexican with no license or insurance, surprise surprise) comes up on my tail and passes us. well, most of us. the guy in front slows and makes a left turn just to be hit by said car. the car spins and winds up in a ditch. the guy in the truck gets out and says "mother f#$*ing d!ck, i just sent in my first payment on this damn truck" it was a 2010 silverado dually 4x4 crew cab. brand new off the show room floor. all that cause some boarder brother couldnt drive the speed limit

Humm, I haven't thought of that. Your saying the electric is better? I haven't investigated it yet, just have heard some 5ers are going it. I have the upgraded axles with bigger brakes and bearing and it brakes pretty good. But, like this thread, I would like even better braking. I've also thought about hydoboost (sp) brakes for the old PSD.
