tonneau cover

I bought a extang trifecta tonneau cover and installed it this afternoon. I noticed there is a gap between it and the front part of the bed. Has anyone else noticed this and how did you fill the void. I would think rain would definitly enter the bed area if left untouched.

I have the Extang Full-tilt and I have the same gap. I intend to but some weatherstripping in there. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Never noticed a gap with mine, sounds like you need to adjust it towards the cab. No water in my bed after a rain, love mine.

Moving it towards the cab will not solve the problem. Side rails seem to be higher than front rail on the truck creating a gap

Yea I remember having to double tape the front of my cap because of the height difference. I will have to look again at mine and see. Does seem to be simple to correct if there is. I would call Extang to see if they took that into consideration in their design. Extang is a great company and will give your question serious consideration and come up with an answer. In the mean time get some of the foam tape used with caps and tape it to the top of the front of the bed...

I have the Extang Full Tilt also and do not have a gap in the front, although I have a plastic bed liner that comes up over the front rail.

I do have a gap by the tailgate, though. I got some tips from Crazy001 last night with the lock brackets - there are disks on the pivot you can remove to bring the brackets up to the under side of the bed rail. I never paid any attention to them.

I do have some 3/4" wide x 7/16" weather stripping for any left over gaps.

I will say, though, I have not had any issue with water getting inside the bed. I had a little bit leaking through where the wire is going out to my antenna on the back left stake hole, but just a dribble. There isn't much if any getting in around the cover.

I bought the soft cover from Ford. The dealership I bought it from told me that they don't install them. So, I brought it to the local Canopy World and they installed it in just a few minutes.

I put an Extang trifold on my LWB and have no gap in front. It has a pretty thick gasket on the front edge, 1/2" or better. It's about 99% water tight all th way around.

I have the same cover with a short bed too. I have no problem with mine and no water gets into the bed. A little damp under the sides after rain and washing but that is it. I don't have any bed liner either and my side rails are not higher then the bed along the cab. I like this cover because is make the bed kinda secure, unless you have a knife.

I have had an Extang RT for several years and swapped it from my 01 to my 11 as Extang shows same p/n. Long story is Extang needs to do some homework as there are differences in the beds. I had to cut down the end blocks and rails to get it to fit and Tail gate to close. Called and I was the only person who ever mentioned a difference. They are a solid company though.

I just put on a Truxedo TruXport. It fits very nicely, went on in 20 minutes, no gaps, been thru the car wash 2 times and several rain storms - no leaks.

I also just installed a TruxPort cover. I am happy with it thus far. Previous brands I have used were Lund.
