Tonneau Covers and Decisions

Hello,

I have been looking at two different tonneau covers for my truck. I'm tired of people using the back of my truck as a trash can, and I like the look of them.

Now I have been looking at two different ones. One is the Truxedo Lo Pro QT
Truxedo Lo Pro QT Tonneau Cover - Videos, 445+ Reviews & Best Prices on Truxedo Lo Pro QT Bed Covers

The other is: 2011 Ford F250 Extang Tuff Tonneau Cover - A Snapless Vinyl Tonneau Cover

The truxedo has a lifetime guarantee on it, the extang, only has a 10 year warranty. Both use the same style of clamps, so no drilling into my bed rails. But is a tonneau cover worth 500 bucks??

If anyone has any experience with these, I would love to hear from you. Thanks for your time!

I have the factory tonneau cover, which is exactly like the Truxedo Truxport (but with a Ford logo on it), and close to the one in your first link. I have no problems with it, it's been durable and has held up good after almost 3 years of use.

Kind of surprised in the price difference between the lo pro and the truxport, looks almost the same...

From what I have heard, I would go with Truxedo or Access. I have had several of the Access and have been happy with them.

No personal experience with Extang, but I have talked to some who were not happy. Been a few years they may be better now.

I had an Access on my last truck and loved it. My current truck didn't have a tonneau up until last weekend, I found the same cover on Craigslist for $200. It's a Lorado, they sell new for around $500. I'm a big fan of the cover, especially now that winter is around the corner.

I would have picked up one sooner but finding a used one for an 8 foot bed isn't that easy.....

Thanks for the help! I think I'm going to go with the Truxedo Truxport cover. I didn't want to spend 500 on the Lo Pro QT. But I wanted something with the same good quality reputation. Thanks again.

Oh, would anyone have a good line on the best place to get a Bedrug. I have the factory plastic liner in my truck right now. I know it has to be doing damage to the paint, so I want to replace it with a bedrug. I've used them before and was very impressed by the quality and durability.

Solid choice. Not sure where you're located, but I usually take mine off in the winter so the snow doesn't pile up and stretch the material. It would probably hold up but my truck spends some time at the airport where I won't take the chance.

I'd be interested in this as well. I have the sprayed in liner but have been camping/sleeping in the back of the truck lately (as much as TT's are nice, nothing beats roughing it to me).

I'm up in northern CA, well actually the truck is. I'm still stuck in Afghanistan. Gotta love this place. The truck only sees snow once a year. I'm not worried about it stretching.

I've had both. A spray in liner and a bedrug. For what I do, the bedrug is the way to go. I spent about 8 hours today searching for a new(I don't like used stuff) bedrug. They are all over the internet. For my short bed it seems the average is just above 413. Its a lot of money, but I think its worth it. I've slept on bedrugs before, and they are pretty awesome.

Just ordered a 2014 long box SuperCab Super Duty dually to pull my Trailer and I am new to Ford. I had a Hard top BackFlip on my Ram that worked well and wanted to know what Ford guys are using.

Well, this is my first Truxedo tonneau cover. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I found that when my bac flip tonneau was up I could not see my fiver hitch so I am looking at:

Tonneau Cover - Tonneau Covers

The Pace Edwards JackRabbit Tonneau Cover | Retractable Truck Bed Cover

Retrax tonneau covers

Any other ideas?

I have a RetraxOne cover and it is very nice. Kinda wish I had the Pro as it is stronger (you can walk on them) but mine is great as it is.

My 2 cents.
I added Extang Black Max tonneau cover to my 2011 F250 and I love it. Very easy to install. I wanted a soft single person removeable cover that still allowed 100% of the bed area at all times. It worked for me.

My back flip will hold 300 lbs and keeps the snow off in the winter, have had it for three years now and wish I had got it sooner. I think I will get a retractable one when the new truck arrives, the only issue is worrying about the snow getting it fouled when retracting. Anyone have experience with the retractable ones in the snow?
