What kind of breaker bars are you using? I have never broke one before, even with a long pipe on the handle and that is a manufacturer's no no... Step up to a bigger bar and it should come. Dumb question but... Did you pull the plugs out?? What is stopping it from turning? Pistons ceased maybe? Try pouring some trans fluid in the cylinders. It's gotta turn!

first one was a 16" i think with a 3/8" drive. second one was 24" with a 3/4" drive. not a dumb question really, but yes the plugs are pulled. i'm not sure what is stopping it from turning, but it's super annoying. i guess next weekend i'll see if i can turn the crank the other way.

edit: used a cheater bar on both when they broke.

like i said i would pull the bellhousing bolts and slide everything out at once. i had to yank a stuck 351m this spring and that is the way i had to do it. at that point you can get to that last bolt and take the torque converter off and get the motor on the motor stand so you can asess what is wrong with the motor more easily then having it lay on the ground.

I'm not fully understanding what trim LMC is referring to for the "A", "B", and "C". Any help is appreciated so I don't end up ordering the wrong thing.

Do you still have the windshield trim? If so I am pretty sure you need "b" this might be better asked to Bill "numberdummy" or Mike "00oo00oo" or however he spells it, they will prolly tell you right away.

Yeah, I still have the trim and plan on reusing it. I'll send a PM to numberdummy.

May be a dumb question, but what gear was the trans in when you pulled the eng/trans? Is the transbrake engaged?

Just saw this thread....you look like you're at the same point as I am in my build. I purchased mine off of a family friend...it was his grandpaw's and he could not restore it as he didn't know how. He was very happy to sell it to me because he knew I'd have it running again for him to ride in like he used to when he was a kid....

Love the truck, and LOVE the 390, I have a 360 in mine and am building a 390 for it right now, cannot imagine the truck having more power since the old 360 is so powerful, but it smokes and burns oil and it is just time so..., ANYWAYS good luck and subscribed

I'm almost positive it was in neutral. I can't really be for sure anymore since it's been so long, and I have a crappy memory.

and grinnergetter, 'ppreciate it. I also talked to numberdummy about it.
