tach
dont think you can. a aftermarket tach is set up for spark signal from your coil. the diesel is different. there was a aftermarket one posted by someone here that has a pick-up that goes onto the alternator. dont know if he bought it and tried it or not. you know, you can always just crack the lens on yours and put the needle back on
i will look and see wat i can find. it drives me crazy not bein able to look at it when im pullin. my pyrometer quit workin to. at first i thought my turbo was done when it quit workin but i didnt loose no power and i can still hear it lol
I also would just pull the trim off the dash and then the few srews that hold the clear plastic on. You could then see if the needle will go back on or not. If not just hit the local you pull and grab a tach or the whole instrument cluster. It only takes about 10 minutes to get one out.
