So here is the dea I have a 1996 Ford F-250 with a 7.3L 4x4. The customer broke the front axle shaft u-joint and destroyed the axle shaft. This is a IFS suspension. He is talking about putting in a straight axle. What axle would work the best and how hard is it to do the swap? Thanks in advance to all the Ford guys out there that know there stuff.
Definitely do it I put one in my 250 and it raised it about 3 inches in the front and it was stupid easy to do, you will have to probably get a driveshaft out of a 350, otherwise make sure to get a track bar and your ready to go. Oh it is a dana 60 and they came in f350s from 87-97, I got mine off ebay with 70,000 miles on it and it only cost me 900 bucks and its a king pin axle .
A front axle from a similar year model F-350 would be the easiest. I know some guys have used the axles from a Super Duty 99 and up and swapping both axles. Or you might try a Dana 44 HD from 77-79 if they aren't to hard on it.
