This may sound stupid, but I'm trying to locate the "lifting brackets" on my 5.8L engine from a 1988 F150. This is where you are supposed to attach the sling or chain to. Can anyone help?
I just put an engine in my 1987 F150. There were no brackets but on the top of the manifold there were two attach #8 bolts (hardened steel). One was on the front right and the other on the back left. I bought 2 feet of heavy chain put the bolts through the links screwed in the bolts and attached the hook of the hoist to the chain. Using extra chain gave me a little more mobility movong the motor around. Make sure you use hardened bolts and a heavy chain. That is how I did it and it worked well.
My '96 parts truck has one eye on the front of the L head, and from the layout of the engine, I think the other lift point is the support bar that runs from the R ex.man. to the plenum.
