my goal to support U.S. economy
ok, i have been thinking more and more about buying American made products. i have always tried to when possible.
i just found out today that BF Goodrich is French owend. i was planning on getting some 33" BFG Mud terrains this year for my F250.
BUT!!! now i am thinking about getting Goodyear MTR's. i REALLY want/need a mud terrain tire, and im hoping someone can tell me where Goodyear is made/owend.
OR what about PRO COMP tires? the only thing i dont like abut pro-comps is i know they are a soft material, and i dont want any rapid tire wear.
ANY suggestions? thanks

If the BFG's are what you wanted, I would say get them and you are still supporting the US economy and keeping the US working man employed.
If BF Goodrich is foreign owned, all that means is they hold the title. The manufacturing plants, distributors, management and employee's are all American within this country.
None of these companies are taking boatloads of cash out of the country. They are incorporated as American companies and their capital is used to repay loans to US banks and reinvest in new manufactureing facilities.
If we try to boycott products whose companies have ties to foreign companies then we are just punishing the Americans who wholly own those franchises and their American employees and suppliers.

I think there are only about three "big" "American" tire companies left without foreign ownership. I think these are still 100% American (at least Dunlop and K-S).
Check out:
Dunlop
Cooper
Kelly-Springfield
This looks like a very aggressive mud type tire that might interest you and it comes in many truck sizes:

Yes, BFG is owned by a French conglomorate. However, the tires YOU buy are made here in the US by US employees. They are only employeed because we continue to buy BFG products.
While I do not support the French stance on the Iraqi conflict (Hell, I don't even like france in general) ceasing the purchase of goods manufactured and sold in the US by US citizens (even if the company is ultimately owned by the Frech) only serves to hurt US workers through layoffs and lost wages.
It's always your choice in what you buy, but be mindful of the complete impact of your decisions.
