Today I found out my truck doesnt have ABS... I'll leave it to your imagination on how I found out
I never looked up the ABS years, and I know that some of these trucks have them and some done, but I though mine being a 2002 would have been required to have ABS. When did these trucks get ABS required?
I know that the effectiveness of ABS can be debated. But I'm not interested in that, I'm just curious that mine doesnt have it.
Are you saying you have no ABS what so ever? Or, you just have rear ABS only? My Lariat came standard with 4 wheel ABS. IIRC, '99-up XLT's came with rear ABS only and 4 wheel was optional.

I'm guesing i have no ABS. I didnt get the "pedal pumping" affect when I stomped on it. I then tested it again later on a wide safe street and again, just pedal straight down and skidding tires.
As I am thinking this, I guess I could check my dash for an ABS light.

If you have rear ABS only, you can still get front wheel lock up. Could the ABS have been disabled?

I am sure that you do have 'ABS'..... Some systems are 'sensitive' (pedal 'pumping' everytime that you hit the brakes hard, like my car) and some are not. The ONLY time that have had that 'pumping' action is when I really loose grip on the pavement. ie..... Moonsoon rain storm, going down hill, white knuckle on the steering wheel and two feet on the brake pedal... That pedal was 'a' 'pumping' for me like crazy..... working like it was suppose to and kept me out of a skid.
(Thank-you Lord Jesus for getting me out of that 'spot'... I will never drive so fast in a rain storm again..... and the wife and kids say....A-men )

I will try it again today.. But I had 5000#s towing behind me at the time, and I really mashed down on the pedal. I've had ABS engage in other trucks before so I know what it feels like and this just felt like skidding..

That could be the issue right there. Maybe. I have heard that when you have a trailer hooked up it disables the ABS. Heard if this only. My truck doesn't have ABS so no experience with that.
I tried it again today, unladin. I pointed my side mirror toward the rear tire and watched it. It didn't lock up. Perhaps the abs doesn't pump the pedal in these trucks. I wasn't able to see the fronts so i don't know if they locked up or not.

ABS works with 'my' trailer..... (and I am glad it does/did)

If you slide on wet pavement for only God knows how far, with a trailer pushing you and having all of your might on the brake pedal.... it will 'pulse' so much it seems that the pedal does not like the pressure that you are putting on it and wants to shake your foot off of it (but this was my truck).
