Just wondering about their quality. I'm having some difficulty getting steering parts for my 78 F250. The localy sourced parts are pretty pricey and that's if they have them at all. Half the time I walk in there and the computer has nothing so they break out the dusty old catalogue

Was looking at RockAuto but the left Tie rod I had my eye on disappeared before I could buy it.

I looked on LMC's website this morning and there I could get the drag link, inner/outer tie rods, and adjusting sleeve for about $60. That's like a third of what I'd pay locally, plus the shipping ofcourse. Question is whether those parts are any good, I've only ever ordered plastic headlight flanges from LMC (pretty hard to screw that up).

Any opinions?

 

O'Reillys has all of the parts available in Moog and Master Pro for not a whole boat load of cash. Master Pro has the same warranty, and is manufactured by Moog in China and Taiwan.

 

Probably should've said I'm in Canada, O'Reilly's doesn't ship here. Too bad.

 

Any decent auto parts store should be able to get the parts you need. I live in Hawaii, and i know about shipping stuff in. Costs an arm and a leg, plus a couple of fingers.

 

Do you have Autozone up there? They have them available too. Or find a place that sells Moog suspension parts and bring them the part numbers to order for you.

 

I just ordered some from lmc truck and they arrived today, I am pretty happy with them. I'll let you know how they work out when iinstall them this weekend.

 

After trying LMC's stuff I would recommend that junk to anyone. Out of the $450 worth of stuff the only thing worth keeping was the power steering pump. The only reason apparently that was any good was because someone else rebuilt it. Whats gets me is after calling and complaining about fitment and quality they tell me they get the same calls all time for the same items???? Why sell it then???

 

I know that NAPA is up there in Canada, wife and I saw quite a few of them along the way when we went to visit her cousin. NAPA either has really good parts guys from my experience, or people that only know the computer. Depending on if you can find one close and they only know the computer - do some lookup online at home www.napaonline.com and get the part numbers for the things you want, bring them in, rattle them off to the dude and he will get you what you need. The old guy at NAPA by me was impressed because he though computers were not useful - He now atleast knows that if you know what your lookin for you can get it, but he is still a paper book guy, which when you really need something is probably the best route on older vehicles some times.....

 

I miss the old paper parts catalogs. When I worked at Western Auto, Autozone, and as a tech for Honda paper books were how things got located. Western Auto had a set of paper catalogs that took up about 10' of counter space, and EVERYTHING was in there. Ahh, the good old days!

 

As fate would have it some idiot smashed my Mustang's windshield the other night and I'm stuck for the deductible :P LMC's cheap parts are looking more attractive all the time....

 

Sum_weirdo, you can't go wrong with LMC, somewhere up of 90% of my 78 will be LMC parts to rebuild to factory spec, the stuff I have ordered, received and used from them has been great thus far, it I had one bad thng to say about them it would have nothing to do with the quality of the parts tehy produce, but the call center person I delt with on my last call. He didn't seem happy at his job nor willing ot go the extra mile to try and help me. But that is the only thing and the only time from LMC. I know that iss more than you wanted, but bottom line LMC is really a great place for replacement parts if you are looking for a factory style repacement part. There are better prices out there sometimes, but you get what you pay for.

 

I still have to laugh at LMC. One time my brother ordered some chrome letters for his 86 tailgate panel. When we got them they were in a Dennis Carpenter box with a LMC sticker on one side and the Dennis Carpenter info half crossed out with black marker. All in all I cant say too much bad about them other than their rocker panel molding clips are a joke.
