Passenger Power Window Issue

In the past I've replaced my fair share of window motors and switches whether it be because of electrical or mechanical issues within those parts. The passenger side window of my 2000 F250 Super Duty 4WD 6.8L EFI stopped working, but didn't stop working completely.

The window would go down, but not up so I thought it might be the plastic gears inside (it was not making a grinding noise though). It wasn't. So I thought it might be the switch. I replaced that and nothing. The window would still go down normally, but not up. So as a last resort I thought it might have been the motor itself that was malfunctioning so I ordered a new one.

I pulled the old motor, spliced the new connector on for the aftermarket motor and without mounting the motor I turned the key to the ON position. I tested the down function and it worked fine. Then I tested the up function and still nothing.

The "To Long Didn't Read" Version:

I replaced the switch and motor controlling my passenger side window and even the new motor isn't functioning when you click the UP command on the switch. Although with both the Old / New switch in conjunction with the Old / New window motor both scenarios the motor will operate normally when you push the corresponding command

Anyone have any other ideas of what the issue might be

Well out of options I went back to the internet and found this article on eBay:

eBay Guides - Ford Power Window Motors Won't Go Up Taurus Mustang...

Granted it had nothing to do with my specific truck, I did end up rapping on the panel a couple times with my hand out of frustration and not with my foot like the post suggests, but low and behold both the old / new switch and old / new motor both worked and allowed the window to go up and down again. Very odd. I wonder why this worked even though it refused to work when I just had both motors plugged in and not mounted yet.

Ok went back an hour later to actually drive to autozone and now the window doesn't work again so if anyone has any ideas they would be appreciated.

I had the exact same problem in my sons truck, replaced everything as you did and nothing, finally took the rubber piece between the driver side door where the wires run apart and found a broken wire inside of the boot. Check either the driver side door or the passenger side door wires, sounds like there is a broken wire somewhere. Good Luck

The only part I haven't replaced yet is the Power Window Switch Connector

More Information for MOTORCRAFT WPT606

Think it would be best to pull the boot out first and check to see if there is a broken wire first though hmm?

I know you have a passenger window problem, but....

i believe all the window controls pass through the drivers door switch module... i would start looking there for loose connections, freyed wires etc... could be that the switch in the drivers door is bad.

Like FORDDIEHARD said, check the points where the wires pass through the doors (check both the passenger and the driver door)

EDIT: lol, i just noticed this thread is 2 months old, i hope he fixed it already!
