Went to start my 1997 4.6 expedition today and it had a knocking and check engine light. Has 235,000 miles. These 2 codes popped up. P0302 and P0325. P0302 is a cylinder 2 misfire and P0325 is a knock sensor circuit malfunction. What would you do to fix the problem?
Replace the knock sensor, there is no way around that. Without it the ECM can't adjust the timing to try to help with the detonation knock you have.
Then replace your COP on #2....which is probably where the knock is coming from. But just replacing the COP won't fix issue #1.
I see this alot, many think that all the modular 4.6 and 5.4 had the same setup.
Right, for the first couple of model years the 4.6 has coil packs and the 5.4 had COPs. Then that changed (in 00 or 01??) to where both engines had COPs.

That's why it is very helpful when working on the issues broght to these boards if people would indicate not only the year of their vehicle, but also the engine. (And the tranny model and mileage would also help.)
Just put it in your sig line and its there on every post you make!!
And while I have the soap box out, if the title of your thread is something like "Help Me" or "Need Help", I just skip over them unless I have nothing else to do. If the title indicates what you are trying to resolve, I'll take a look at it if the title is something that I know something about.
