I have a 2004 6.0L Excursion 4x4 which I bought Used.
Every Morning when I start My truck. I have to wait for itto warm before i can use it.. I have no power when leaving my house. i can floor it and the just moves slowly and it struggles.. but once it warms up in a bout 10 min the cars run normally through out the day.
I have the same year as you and there are several options depending on what you find. I know that my truck had a very hard time when I did not plug it overnight. I live in SoCal so the temps are in the low 40's to high 30's and that is extreme. I did not want to reflash my truck since it had an older 2006 flash that worked great for me. I did change over to synthetic oil and that made a huge difference on the days I could not plug it in overnight. I consider my engine to be well maintained and all systems were working properly at the time....except for the nasty cold starts with fossil based oils (Chevron 15w40 DELO). See what you find and let us know....I am curious to see what you find.
I live in Miami Florida and the weather here is HOT Like Africa Hot.
It just happens that I changed the oil yesterday to a 15W40 Rotella Oil and this morning the start was rougher.maybe like the link suggested it might be Oil related.. What would be the Oil of choice I Should use and what other recommendations do you have..
I would vote for Shell's Rotella T6, when it was first introduced it helped and eliminated alot of stiction and rough starts people were having.
If you're willing to go a different route, you can try hot shot secret. It was specifically designed to clean the oil side of injectors and get them running in like new condition again. I run the treatment every spring and winter and I never had any issues...
I am with Mark. You need too have your Fuel Injector Control Module (FICM) tested. You shouldnt even need Glowplugs in "Africa"! Maybe have your HPO System checked out too, as it sounds like your injectors are not firing right (stiction).

Reason: Re read what I typed, and realized I told him to have his High Pressure pump checked, I meant have the High Pressure Oil System checked!
