After having done the install successfully once now, it would take less than an hour. Having never done the install and trying to figure out the instructions, locating the wires, plan on about 3 hours.
Make sure you are only looking for the two required wires in the front passenger side, back passenger side will not be the same...I made that mistake and wasted time. The two wires required for the install was on the very top of the wire bundle for me.
Agreed. But I found 3 violet/grey wires and three grey/brown wires. Have Bo idea which are the correct ones though. Just tried one of each and mine is not working.
Nevermind, it looks like you can use any of the violet/grey and grey/brown wires as they all splice together and carry the same signal. Mine wasn't working because those stupid connectors they supply are garbage.
Just in case anyone is interested in watching a video of an install of the Power lock on a tailgate, here is a link to one being installed on an F150 on etrailer.com's website.....
Link wasn't working for the video. Found one that worked.
Pop and Lock's instructions SUCK and are very, very basic and if not wrong.
I've got a 2012 F250 Crewcab
Does anyone know the corect location and color or wires?
Their directions say they are here and there and with different wire colors than I can find
Thanks in advance
wrong colors listed on the paper..

2. For the 2 click unlock I used the violet/gray strip wire(it is bundled together with a wire that is also violet/gray) and the gray//brown strip wire (this one is bundled with 2 other wires also gray/brown strip). These wires were located in the FRONT passenger door sill.
these are the ones I used, having looked it up here on FTE.
It may be easier to get the wires at the BCM. if you're already going to the passenger side door sill it's not much further to the BCM anyway. Use a meter/test light to confirm you have the right wires first. It should be pretty straight forward after that.
I would make sure you splice the wires very neatly, as not to give Ford another reason to void your warranty in the future.
Thanks guys!! Got it all hooked up, installed and everything put back together. It's works great. I did tie into the wires at the BCM. There's a grommet right there in the floor board and everything was pretty wasy once I figured out which wires to use
