Noise at Start up?

Noise at Start up?
My truck as done this for a while and it have never concerned me, but the curiosity is KILLING me...
When I first turn on the ignition I hear a "vrwump" type sound. Its before I turn the key to START, just ignition on. It almost sounds like it could be the transfer case electric shift. Any ideas?
