Hey y'all. I have a 72 F100, 390 2v I just bought. Every time I shut it off and it sits a few minutes, it floods. Have to hold pedal to the floor to start it. Not very well educated on carb tuning. Any suggestions?
It is all stock. Iron intake and 2v carb. No spacer. The lines don't seem to be unusually close to anything hot. Had the breather cap off the other day and heard the carb belch, for lack of a better description.
If the float needle in the carb is leaking very slightly, the residual fuel pump pressure can push gas out the carb right into the intake, flooding the engine.
If it's vapor locking, which "belching" might lead me to believe, it's heat soaking into the carb or fuel lines.

Got a good fan, and a shroud?
Above has my vote. I had a pin hole leak in a float causing the exact same scenario. A bad seat or needle valve can also cause it.
The fan is good, aftermarket. A bit larger than stock as the shredded shroud will show. If it's a vapor lock, would holding the pedal to the floor make it start like when it's flooded?
