How To Shorten Super Duty Mirrors ?

I have a 2008 Super Duty with the extenable tow mirrors. These things are huge and wide. I want to shorten them about an inch on each side but searching hasn't resulted in a proceedure.

Someone must have it documented? Please help.

Thanks

I can sell you some paddle mirrors that will make your truck overall more narrow. I don't think you can cut the tow mirrors. You knew the SD was a wide truck when you bought it didn't you? You test drove it?

Wow, there are probably 5000 members with paddle mirrors that will trade you straight across.

Lots of people will be happy to swap their smaller paddle mirrors for your extendable units. I would do it if I had any to offer you...

After having towing mirrors you will HATE the paddle mirrors. My first superduty was a 99 with paddle mirrors and got rid of them after a month of owning the truck.

heres a idea...what if you start to fold them in and then somehow pin them so they cant move. then just re-adjust your mirrors.

They are supposed to be wide, they allow you to see the trailer behind you.

I guess that could be true. Just thought that would be a big reason for buying a SD. My fault for thinking again. I guess he just needs it for payload or just likes a big truck with little mirrors.

Pool vehicles, no choice in mirror assignment.

We work for a municipal government and they gave us the F250 with towing mirrors on it, but they hit everything because they stick out so far. They look like they should adjust in further (and they should…) I was hoping that there would be a fix for it on this forum, but I guess not. We rarely pull a trailer, but if we did, we could just pull them out… Why on earth they leave 2 inches of stem sticking out when it’s in the retracted position is beyond me. Please, Ford engineers, consider changing the design so that they tuck right in as deep as they can go, eliminating that 2 inches of extra stem…
