Does anyone have a link to Ziggys Extream AC Mod? WHere he went in and installed a Sol to shut off the water to the Heater core. I am looking for part numbers, or where used ( What car) and where he tied in the control at..
You can either use the Ranger (or ambulance) heater core shutoff valves or you can get a ball valve, a few hose clamps and a couple barb fittings and just make a manual valve.
The Ranger type is vacuum operated and you tie in somewhere behind the glovebox.
I'm confused on two levels. first, my a/c so so freaking cold I have to direct it away from my hands while driving. Believe me, I love it. So i don't see how warm water is seeping through my heater core at the same time. Second doesn't the a/c heat system already have a valve that turns off the hot water when ac is on? then when you don't want it so bone chilling cold you turn the dial down a bit and it lets warm water flow to offset the cold, like a water faucet. So I don't understand the mod.

Nope. Water circulates through your heater core full time. However, you are in the same boat as I am. My A/C is freezer cold and I am sure I could hang meat in the cab if I wanted to. I hear the shut off valve makes the system even colder but I don't need it any colder here (and I live in Phoenix!). The mod would cost me an extra $100 because I would have to go out and buy a jacket just to drive around in my truck.
Yep same thing bro, I found some in an ambulance for mine, you can get the manual ones off of most Hondas.
I got a standard1/2" ball valve, some barb fittings for it, and a couple hose clamps. It's a little small for the heater hose but with a couple clamps tightened down good I've got colder AC and no leaks.
I just did the manual thing also, Didn't want to putz around with controlling it from in the cab. Shut the valve in May. Open the valve in late September. If something changes, Pop hood flip valve.. AC drops at least 5 to 8 degrees.. Either way It is awsome.
