I've searched the forums and couldn't find it, I'm probably going to install an exhaust on my truck some time next week and wanted to know, if there will be a considerable difference between going with a MBRP kit with or without a muffler?

If you have aftermarket gauges then yes, you will see a difference in EGTs. Also there is a MPG difference (although its so small it cant be measured accurately). I believe I have heard of people shaving off between 30-100* of EGT by having no muffler. If you search Muffler Delete, then you should find some threads about people reporting EGTs.

EGT: Exhaust Gas Temperature.
Just in case
Edit: i meant a difference in in cab noise from running a straight exhaust as opposed to having an exhaust with a muffler on it?
I think its pretty much all personal preference, you tend to get an annoying drone in the cab with a straight pipe people reported. In my case I went with the muffler and dual setup and couldn't be happier, the growl and roar mine lets out would wake up nieghbors at the end of my coultisac. Also, not to rain on anybodys parade but certain state laws require a mufflering device so check your local or state vehicle codes if you have state inspection. Here in Pa. a muffler is required on all vehicles ore they won't inspect it, or a good friend with an inspection license.
Ditto. I have a muffler. I drive with my windows down most of the time, but if it ever gets annoying I can shut it up by rolling up the windows then its like driving a civic. just a lot less
I did the delete on my 4 inch magnaflow... Definitely big difference with the windows down and driving by buildings, walls, or under freeway overpasses. I don't really get the annoying drone that everyone talks about, but then again, I like the sound! The biggest thing I have noticed is the sound of the turbo during deceleration...sounds great IMO, music to my ears.
Over the years I've heard a lot of people say they like the sound without the muffler...but when they go on road trips where they are cruising down the highway for hours at a time, it gets pretty annoying inside the cab.
My friend did a muffler delete on his OEM exhaust, and then the state wouldn't grant him his annual inspection because he was straight-piped. Something to think about.
I'm looking at removing the stock muffler and tail pipe on my 550 and putting on a straight 4" from the muffler back. The only reason I haven't yet is because I'm concerned that it'll be too loud. It's a work truck and is always around residential neighbourhoods, and I don't want it to be too loud. So my question is how loud is the 7.3 unmuffled? What about under load, towing a heavy trailer? Thanks for any input.
I just hacked off my stock muffler so I could decide if I would go with a 4" straight pipe and I cant believe how quiet it is with just straight pipe! I get almost no more noise in the cab than before. I did hook the tail pipe back up, without it it was irritatingly loud in the cab, but with it I have to roll down the pass window and pass something to tell a difference.
One big change is turbo spool up time and ex back pressure. I just ran some tests today using Auto Enginuity and with stock muffler I showed 48.5PSI max BP and now without I'm showing 40.1 psi when Im really in the throttle. Also helped alot with surge, almost non existent now. Cant wait to see if theres any mpg gain.
