ATS Turbo help!

How do you tell the diffrence between the ATS 085 or ATS 088 systems?

My work has a couple laying around and I need to be able to tell the diffrence because I might install the 088 in the turbo diesel 7.3L Im picking up Friday.

The truck now has that S%^& wastgate turbo.

ok so it is a 088 at my work.

Now the question is. should I stick with the 93 with the waist gated turbo, or put the 088 turbo in.

My plans is to run a 3" downpipe into a 4" then stacks.

The truck will have EGT and boost gauges.

I guess my question is about power.

I want it to go fast but Im not willing to deal with the price of Powerstrokes and their componates.

Im just wondering if the 088 will boost to high with the fuel pump turned up and water injection.

And Im not to concered about cost. but for preformance is the 088 better than the Garret waistgated turbo?

You don't need to remove the waste gate, just shorten the rod. Be careful when doing so, dont let the rod turn as it will tear the diaphram, and ruin it. Dave S is running the factory 093 turbo and boosting over 20 lbs. with it.

isent 20psi a bit much for that engine. I thought they were already like 22.2:1 comp

way too much stuff to mention to what he did to get it there but a wastegate isnt a bad thing. definitely not garbage. lol

I take it he has ceramic coated pistons, head studs, the works?

I was thinking like 12-15psi

i am at about 11psi right now and if i turned it a few more times i would be right in the middle of where you want to be. I can get 10 psi in one second, zero hesitation and no psi drop between shifts.
