I have a 1994 F150XLT 5.0 302, and now that winter is hear, 13 degrees this morning, it took 20 minutes for the whistle to disappear (at speed). Historically, 2 years ago I had replaced an air line at the top back of engine that blew a hole in it. Can't tell you what the name of it is. Since that time...only when it gets really cold, does it whistle. This is the coldest in two winters here in VA. Has anyone else had this problem? And/or can you suggest a fix for this and where located. Thanks for the read.

I had a similar problem: I would hear a wistle but only on accel/decel and only around a certain RPM. I replaced the PCV valve and I have not heard the noise since. When was the last time you PCV was changed? Hope I have been of some use.
If the noise can also be heard at idle, then it could also be the IAC(Idle Air Control) valve.I guess that would be more of a humming sound, than a whistle.I'm not sure if my EFI460 had the noise at speed, but I remember just before the IAC was replaced,it was a loud "hum" while idling in traffic,or coming to a light. It probably made noise while driving, too, but couldn't notice it as much, due to the exhaust note.
My '87 whistles real bad too, more so in the winter. I asked my mechanic about it, and he said it could be the IAC valve sticking, and that they were known to do that. It's a real high pitched sound, but it only occurs at a certain rpm: right around 1500 on my truck. Does yours whistle constantly, or just at certain throttle positions and rpms?
Hey DiGido, did it sound like either radio noise or an alternator whin. Because when ifirst pull out or rev the engine while siting i get this reall loud whinn. in the cab and outside.
You might want to check the hoses and connections along your secondary air injection pump system. That thing pumps air to different check valves depending on engine condition. Just a thought.
