Very Loud Turbo Whistle

I want to know which turbo wheel (impeller) will cause the loudest whistle. I like the sound myself. I had an original turbo wheel that has a few chips on the impeller and I was running stock exhaust which was converter exempt and it whistled pretty darn nice at idle. You could hear it very well.
But now I run a wicked wheel with open 4" exhaust and you can barely hear the turbo at idle. Mostly is heard right after you rev it.
Once in a blue moon, I am at a fuel station and I hear a dodge idling and all you can hear is the tubo whistle.
So what is the magical combination to a louder turbo whistle at idle?

What intake are you running? That makes more of a difference than the exhaust.

Get a 6637 intake and a 38R turbo. All the whistle you can want.

I have a Van intake, because I have a Van. As far as I know, the van intake breathes way better than a truck because it two 8x12 filters side by side with snorkels that protrude right to the front between the hood and grill. It gets alot of air from the front side of the radiator and none from under the hood. You can shove your flattened hand right up those snorkels with plenty of room to spare as long as you remove the debris stopper, but don't do that. Don't forget, Vans don't have intercoolers so the intake runner goes directly from the turbo right to the filters almost in a straight line.

I'll make you a good deal on a 38R and some bellowed up-pipes. I hate the damn noise.

Yeah, its nice and quiet with the AIS, but I'm sucking the oil out of the crankcase thru the CCV and I can peg the filter minder at will.

I'll throw in the AIS if the buyer wants it too!!

Hold on guys! I don't see anybody on the same page. I have ridden in a vehicle with the 6637 and it whines - up front. I've heard the foil delete mod and that's a real cab whistler. I wanted the cab quiet (my AIS)and the horn to play a tune (exhaust).

I think Krazymaan wants the whistle at the back-passenger tire. Am I correct on this?

He did say he liked the doodge... Lucky for us, the PSD doesn't sound like that. Those engines are OBNOXIOUS with large, unmuffled exhaust.

I don't remember hearing a diesel engine turbo whistling at idle.

Are you sure you are hearing the turbo and not some bad bearings somewhere?

Tugly you are correct, I like to hear the whistle come out of the tail pipe. I would just happen to like it to be louder at idle.

SkySkiJason, He's just twisting words like others do. You need to rub your eyes before you read or read twice before you comment. because I clearly said there was a few times at gas stations that i have heard dodges whistling at idle and I liked that sound. It has nothing to do with liking dodges or not. I'll call you out, Where did it say I like Dodges? He goes and gloats that all the sudden I like dodges and lucky... bla bla bla. Then you don't even contribute with any helpful information.

Ah... now we're getting somewhere. I've heard monster whistle on mine, for the 10 miles I had a straight pipe. I bumped up to a 4" with a mild muffler because the muffler delete had a fire-breathing rocket sound at my 5 AM startup - not very neighborly. I have a subtle whistle, but above regular idle. If I had high idle without the EBV active, that would get a continuous whistle. The 7.3 breathes - really breathes. If idle was enough to spool the turbo up to a whistle, I suspect it would choke at WOT... but I'm no expert. The 5.9 might have a smaller turbo, making it easier to whistle at idle - I dunno.

So... I've heard very healthy whistles come out of the 7.3 exhaust and I don't know how it was made. I'd like to know as well.

DIY-6637, WW, and Straight Pipe/Full 4" Exhaust will increase whistle nicely.

Obviously a 38R will, but not exactly in everybody's budget.

My buddy's Banks exhaust, with muffler and stock wheel and intake, at idle (warming up), sounds liek a jet ready for take-off. Hit brake pedal, goes away/idle comes down...but sure sounds good.
