[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Nov-02 AT 00:04 AM (EST)]I am still getting used to my new truck, but I noticed that after Ford replaced my front cover gasket (they diagnosed a coolant leak there), the idle seems a bit rough and sits about 1100 rpm. Before the service, it was smooth and under 1G.
For the F-150 5.8 in my signature, where do you all think the idle should sit at? Do you think they might have forgot to reconnect something?
Sounds like a vacuum leak. The idle speed should be 6-800 for all EFI engines. Take it back and make THEM fix it - if you mess with it yourself, it's your problem from then on.

When I brought it back to have them look at it (plus a couple of other items), they still never did anything about the idle. This all started after they replaced a front engine gasket (and I still had a leak).
While I was standing there with the service man, I asked him why they left the coolant 25% low in the rad and why there was a hose hanging off the secondary air injection system. He said that's what makes me mad and I will have them take care of it.
Does anyone know if one hose not connected to that air pump will cause the idle to be high (~1100) and not real smooth?
