1998 Explorer will not start

1998 Explorer will not start

I have a 1998 Explorer that has been having starting problems. I was able to go to the outside relays and tap on them and get it started. Now, it is a no go. Any ideas?

Before tapping on the relays does turning the key to the start position result in a click of any sort, or the starter motor turning the engine over, or absolutely no sounds?

It turns over very well. Just acts like it is getting no gas or something. I had my wife turn the switch on and I heard the fuel pump working

Isolate the problem, fuel or spark.

Inject a test fuel into the intake manifold (use a vacuum nipple) and if it starts momentarily, fuel is the issue.

Pull one of the HT wires use a spare spark grounded, you should see a good strong blue spark, if not spark is missing..Philip
