i want to put bigger injectors in my truck its got 189k on it i have a diablo predator tuner intake 4 inch exhaust and a 38r ball bearing turbo. want to know what i will have to do to put them in and not have problems. anyone do it that knows everything i will need
When upgrading injectors you need to think about your tuning. You can get away with your current tunes, but you will not be at the full potential of the injector you choose. Custom tunes that take into the account your injectors flow more fuel will keep the truck running at it's best. If you go with new injectors, without tuning changes, stay with a stage 1 or you are wasting money.
i wasnt planning on going any bigger than stage one but what im not sure on is do i need to get a fuel system right after that? do i need to do anything else to the truck to get it ready for the injectors
Going from spilt shot to single shot you need new tuning to make them work Period. You can use tuning from single shot to split shot but not the other way. If you have stock injectors now you have split shot injectors. Your tuner won't work in the stock form. It seems you have the back up systems already, maybe fuel return system and better HPOP. If you don't tow go with some hybirds, 200/80 over makes real HP and is real drivable with stock HPOP. Chet
I second the hybrids if you're doing it. Stage 1s are a very mild increase, and not really worth it IMHO. I know some folks love their Stage 1s, but 200cc hybrids are a VERY nice injector, can get you over 400 hp, and will tow nicely especially with the 38r. You'll just need custom tuning. There really is no other option -- ANY single shot (stage 1s, 2s, and 3s/hybrids are all singles) requires it. You *can* get bigger splits that wouldn't require tuning, but they require A LOT of HP oil, so you'd need to spend big $$$ on an oil system. 200cc hybrids will run VERY nicely on stock oil (that's all I have), and can be tuned however you want them, even down to stock performance.
