i'm doing a rebuild on my 5.0 and i'm converting to mass flow using 89-93 mustang EFI parts. I want to put 30 lbs injectors in it, and i know i have to ungrade the mass flow sensor, which i'll do, but will the 30lbs injectors fit into the intake with now problems?
Yes, they'll fit without any problems. BUT I have to ask, what other mods are you planning to do that require the 30lb injectors? That's a heck of a jump from the stock 19lb injectors, and the only thing I can see needing that much fuel is a supercharger/turbo and/or some massive heads with large intake runners. Even then with the heads, if the rest of your intake isn't some kind of aftermarket, you'll be wasting your time AND gas/money on that big of an injector.
thanks, i knew that 24's fit, but i thought i'd make sure. Well i got the rebuild on the go now. There are some prett good mods with it, but nothing to crazy. I most likly was not going to go with the 30 lbs setup, for the reasons you stated. I just have a chance at this really good deal on 75mm mass flow with 30 lbs injectors....i dont think i'm gona go for it, too much for my application.
thanks
kyle
Stock fuel pumps and fuel rail are something to remember when installing larger injectors. The injectors will physically fit, but the rail and the pump may not be up to the amount of flow that would be required by running the inectors to full potential. However, if you aren't flowing a lot of air (making the upper power figure of the injectors), then there won't be a need for more fuel, and you should be ok.
