I like to spray because it gets the oil up into cracks and corners easier and better than a brush.

Housedad, for a control test I did one of our fleet trucks with chassis saver to see how it holds up and performs against our oil coated trucks.

We will see how it holds up to the conditions this truck seen:

And just for reference here is one of our retired (500K+ miles) oil treated trucks.

Snow, I'm definitely interested to see your results next year. Will you be driving it through the winter?

Bion is my first name. My dad named me after an ancient Greek Philosopher. less than a dozen people have it in the US as their first name.

Would you recommend this for a former New England Ex that is moving to Texas? The damage(rust) is already done, but I did read that some people say it helps shed the old rust. I may do this unless you all have a better suggestion.

Get a mallet, a chisel, phosphoric acid and a good undercoating. You need to knock off all of the rust that you can. A lot of people use angle grinders. Then spray or apply phosphoric acid with a brush. Ospho is pretty popular. Once you've done that you can apply the undercoating (brush or spray).

This is just a general idea. Do some research if you're going down this path.

Just curious what the knock on Ziebart is? My local Ford body shop guy (who I feel I can trust) swears by the stuff and I just had it done a couple of months ago in preparation for this next Ohio salt filled winter.. My Ex was salt free from TX so I didn't start with a rust problem prior to the Ziebart treatment.

Like I said - just curious. Depending on the feedback I might want to scramble and spray some oil before the bad weather comes.

I don't think I've read much negative about the process on here, but others may chime in. The biggest knock I've read was with their warranty. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post11412630

I had Waxoyl done on my California truck that was brought to NY. Not cheap though !

If you're spraying undercoat, take some vasoline and put it on the threads of all exposing bolts. It will wash right off and keep the bolts from getting sprayed.

Nope just going to use the oil. Can any one think of items to avoid spraying besides rotors?
