What EGT sensor/guage do I need?
What EGT sensor/guage do I need?
I appreciate all the help I have been given this past week when I started to upgrade my Truck. Since it is not in the tagline here is what I have done. 97 PSD CC 4x4 Auto
TS 6 pos chip
K&N
3 inch downpipe
Cat delete
I have seen many guages and sensors out there and I am completly confused to where they need mounted and what temps to look for. Does anyone have a good reccomendation for a sensor set up that is reasonably cheap that will work. Also what other guages etc should I install and what do I need to keep an eye on.

Yes you need gauges!: pyrometer (PRETURBO: dont go more than 1250*), trans temp (in the port of the tranny - dont run more than 200*) and boost (in the MAP line - dont go more than 30 psi with the stock turbo). And in the cab could be in a pillar pod or on the dash or above the central mirror, etc, etc.
I bougth ISSPROs.
Received my ISSPRO's from Clay a few weeks ago. The EV2's look sweet; granted they were a little pricier, but I couldn't be happier. If you go that route make sure you but the Potentiometer cable harness, it really makes the install extremely easy. I got the Chrome Bezel with White Face and Blue; really looks awesome at night. Here is a pic after the install...
Pay no attention to the dirty as he** windshield!!!

That looks great Mike! I'm going to go with the that same style. White blue chrome. Gonna go with the Performax though.

How man gauges you going for Pete?
Three gauge pillar pod. I just didn't like the four gauge pod. Probably going to try for one more on the steering column. Probably a scan gauge. Not sure about the effectiveness of them versus the cost yet. If I end up needing a couple more I'll go with a pod above the rear view mirror. But thats what I'm leaning towards. Four total would be ideal. Since I've settled on the F8 chip from Jody I wont need a hole for the LED switcher available on the other chips. That was my dilemma.

If you want to mess with the Aeroforce Interceptor I will have mine in the truck for the San Jose tech day.
My thoughts are:
Stock
High idle
60 hp tow
80 hp tow
80 hp economy
100 hp performance
AC injectors no mods
T500
Beans electric fuel
Stock rebuilt turbo 1.0 housing (for now)
Deleting EBPV with a non-EBPV pedestal and flange so I'll have to have Jody eliminate the trouble code since its a Cali truck.
IC is definitely in my future. That and a different tranny cooler.
Lucky Find
Well just got really lucky on a local board for my EGT setup. Found a guy that bought an Auto Meter Phantom for his Subaru then wrecked it before putting it in. Picked it up for $35. So I will be getting a hold of RiffRaff for the trans sensor and will have to be done for now. Thank you for all the help.
