im putting cab lights on my bullnose and the truck originally didnt come with them i was wandering is there some kinda template out there or does anyone have measurements thanks
I added cab lights to my 85 F350. If I can find the measurements, I'll send them too. I basically went to the salvage yard and measured 3 diff F-Series pickup until I was sure of the measurements. I wrote them down w/ a diagram (now to see if I can find them)
PS. Do yourself a favor to and grab a factory harness from a donor truck if you have not already, as these are plug n play.
I went out to pull some measurements off my '83 F-250 with factory clearance markers, but it was too dark to see. If nobody chimes in by tomorrow, I'll try to get some numbers for you.
Several years ago I installed some on my old '96 F-250 that I swiped from a truck that a guy was parting out. After I removed them I started to take measurements, but then realized that I could pull a template. I ran a couple strips of masking tape over the holes from side to side, marked the holes with a pen, and made some reference marks at the rain gutters on the masking tape. Made my install very easy.
The connector for the factory clearance lights is located behind the drivers kick panel.
All trucks have this connector, if your truck came with the cab lights or not. You will just need the cab light harness extention wires from the connector to the lights, and to cut the holes.
You're right. They are set back a little further... but they're all 3 3/8 inches from the windshield trim. The trim doesn't follow a straight line on the truck but rather curves with the windshield.
After the holes are drilled in the top layer, you should use something like a wire clothes hanger, (If you can get these even anymore) or some bailing wire and fish the wire(s) up the "A" pillar from where it connects at the connector at the "kick panel" location.
