What is the stuff Fors uses on the roof in the rain gutter toward the rear? I am having some really bad paint chipping and rust and I'm trying to sand it all down and repaint to get me by til I get the whole truck repainted. I tried sanding it, but it is tough. I need to sand a ridge where the paint is chipping to even it out but it doesn't want to give.
Well whatever it is, don't hit it with a palm sander!!! It will melt and gum up ur sandpaper and spread til u realize what is going on. Just hit around it by hand and u will be ok.
While I'm talking about the roof, how many ppl r having problems with paint chipping? Mine is bad. About the last 18in have chipped off. I also have about a 12in semicircle above the windshield I have to hit next. I'm just spraying with can duplicolor paint to get me by til I can afford to get the truck repainted.
It feels like standard autobody seam sealer. The kind you can get from 3M in the tubes. However, thats just what it feels like, I have no idea what it really is. I am glad my X sits up so high that nobody can see it.
Sorry, I don't have an answer, but I can't wait to hear what the answer is. I was looking at buying an Excursion recently (even though I already have one), but that rust in the rear rain channels scared me away from the purchase. I just don't know how much it would cost to repair.
