Oem roof rack ?

Oem roof rack ?
I am removing the whole roof rack to sand down some roof rust and I plan on painting the side rails also.
Question is, r the screw holes sealed? I put the screws back in, but would be a lot easier to wash, sand, and paint roof with them out.
I also am getting rid of the oem cross bars and getting some Yakima bars and a custom made roof rack put on.
Does anyone know the weight rating for the roof?
Tks in advance!!!

Now, what about weight? Anyone know? I don't have a manual or I would just look there.

I believe Yakima bars on the factory rails are rated at 165 lbs. I think that comes straight from the owners manuals.
A sliding rack system will not be as strong as mounting brackets bolted directly through the roof and gusseted. The weak point would be the rails. If you plan on putting a lot of weight on the top, there is a chance, as the weight shifts, you could pop one of the brackets out of the rails and that would be a hairy mess.
165 is not factoring in the lateral forces of that weight if you plan to off road. I think the rating is based on paved road driving.
I went with three Yakima cross bars on the factory rail and figure, since the weight is more evenly distributed, I may be able to exceed the 165 lbs. rating. But I mostly put bicycles (7) or a canoe up top, not a spare tire and full expedition gear.

I think either the load warrior or the mega warrior has an extension option that adds 22" to it. Check that out as an option. Otherwise, if you mount it toward the front I don't think it will look too small. Maybe mock up a cardbard box with the same dimensions to get an idea?

Found this one today with the extension. Looks like it's measuring out at 72" (see the pics) not sure if you can add two of the 22" extensions together and make it 44"

They are different. If you go here Yakima Techmanual you can look each one up and reveiw the instructions on each, the load warrior and the mega warrior. It also includes the dimension specs.
It looks like the gear weight limit on the mega warrior is 115 lbs.
I don't work for Yakima but I do love their racks. I tend to buy used yakima stuff so I look up specs all the time.

I'm looking at getting one made like the hitch carriers that go into the 2" trailer hitch but in a 7x4ft to cover the whole Ex roof rack. So far, I have gotten an estimate of $265. Just trying to get the best rack at a cheaper price!!
