Has anyone with a flareside had any problem with paint flaking off on their truck bed side (the composite fenders)?
I am getting the entire passsenger side of the bed repainted under warranty that started from a rock chip and then started flaking. It was only about teh size of a quarter, when the body shop manager looked at it he said it shouldn't be doing that. They started blowing paint off with an air compressor andit just kept coming off till there was an area about the size of a football and then they decided to just repaint the entire bed side of the truck. He said it didn't look as if it was ever sanded under the primer, primer and all was coming off.
After 45,000 miles in 04' my trucks flareside still looks great. My Truck does however have scratches from Off-Roading and they barely were knoticeable in the clear coat. After I buffed and waxed I have had no problems. There is a product you should look into that is an awesome paint protector. The maker is KLASSE which is a German product that is no longer a wax but a paint sealant. It is actually an acrylic layer that goes on the top of your clear coat. The beading (when water is applied) has lasted 2 months in arid conditions (laredo). Found on online stores such as autopia.org & properautocare.com
