(Get bulbs and harness from Susquehanna MotorSports - High Performance Vehicle Lighting and Competition Accessories for about $100).

The bulbs in the '05+ headlights are an epic POS design - don't waste your money...

For under $200, the combo I suggested blows any HID's currently available away AND doesnt annoy oncoming drivers!!

I really dont want to swap my 2000 lamps - have to pull the brushguard I think. Will the Hella work in the existing housings?

Or should I just eat the pain and pull the brushguard?

Thanks,
D.

Yes, the harness and bulbs alone are a BIG improvement. The newer housings are just that much more better. I ran the 2000 housings and 80/100 bulbs in the X until I (screwed up ) put '05-'07 stuff on the dually and donated the clear housings to the X.

I think the stock '99-'01 'fluted' lenses are dangerously weak. A minimum improvement would be a relay harness - then the higher wattage bulbs are a cheap upgrade from there!

Well after reading this thread I think I'll go pull my headlights out and put flash lights in.

Yeah, I hear they are the same as the stock light housings but much cheaper!

Where is the harness list on the Hella site, if it's not a problem do you have a part list to up grade the headlights, are you splicing into the headlight wiring if so where?. I have a 03 Limited X 6.8, the headlights are not fogged, look almost new, but as the years catch my eyes a little more light would be great. We live in the country and deer strikes are really common. Coming back from Smith Mountain Lake last year my youngest son and I saw 6 fresh road kills in a 12.5 mile stretch right before the Blue Ridge Parkway. A buck ran into the side of my wifes postal car just a while back, It would be noce to have a few more watts out in front of the X

Select (2) 9007 bulbs: (no splicing or cutting anything - its plug and play!)
Susquehanna MotorSports - Auto Performance Product

I like these bulbs (100/80 double pack):

Don't worry about the blue tint on those bulbs, I promise ya won't look like one of those kids in a cheesy import car. The bulbs produce a very white light in the 4000k range.

I know exactly what ya mean about the deer, they are thick around here! Your new extra HIGH beams will be a welcome sight.

As long as they're HID flashlights, you'll be fine.
