5th Wheel Wiring Harness

5th Wheel Wiring Harness
When I purchased my F250 four years ago, the 5th wheel plug in the bed was working perfectly. In March a crack-head stole my truck for some unknown reason...it wasn't the fanciest truck, or the fastest ride; I think it was the easiest to get to, but I degrees. When the truck was recovered both bumpers were gone. When they took the bumpers off...instead of unplugging the wiring harness on both ends...they cut 'em. Wrapping up putting everything back to the way it was...I was wondering if anyone has used a wiring harness like this for their in bed 7-pin:
Fifth Wheel / Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Wiring Harness - 2002-04 Ford Super Duty Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 30166
Looks like it's got weather pack seals in the plugs...so I'm thinking it would be allot better than splicing the factory harness under the bed. Any thoughts gentlemen?

The plug is still in the bed, it was the wiring under the bed (between the spare & rear bumper) that was cut. I assumed it would work, was more or less wondering if anyone has/had used a Hopkins product. Thank you for the diagram.

I used something like that but a different brand on my truck. I wanted to retain my plug on the bumper so I bought a harness that plugs into my factory harness and runs up into the box where I installed the plug in. I ran the cord up through the area behind the left hand taillight and came into the box through the 3/4" hole at the top of the stake pocket at the top rear left corner of the box. Then I used the metal bracket to mount the plug there. The only holes drilled were the two small holes for the screws to attach the bracket for the plug. Works great. Took a bit of work to get the cable up through there though. I had to run a coat hanger down from the top to the area behind the tail light to pull the cable up and out. It is a bit of a tight fit until it is through and then it is OK.
I can take some pics if you want after, I am off to a meeting for the next 8 hours.

Here are the pics for anyone that is interested. The first picture is from under the truck showing where I ran the harness beside the harness up to the left hand taillight. The rest are self explanatory. It is nice that with this location the box extender still works and the plug does not interfere with its operation.
