Additional Lighting Hiccup
I just joined this site after monitoring the boards since late October 2106.
Last week I took delivery of a 2017 F 350 Super-cab Lariat 4x4 diesel.
This is my 4th Superduty, third with a diesel. I upgraded from a 2015 F 250 gasser. I tow a 12K lb fifth wheel toy-hauler. The 6.2 was a bit weak for me. Especially in the hills of New England!
Now the reason for this post. On top of my in bed tool box, I have additional LED S/T/T lights. I get power to these lights by using a T harness that attaches between the OEM wiring harness and 7 pin connector in the bumper. I used this exact harness on my 2015 with no problems or issues. This harness was "plug and play" on the 2015, and is plug and play on the 2017.
Now the issue: When I shift into reverse, the display on my dash says I have a trailer connected and disables the reverse sensors. The cameras still work. The truck is sensing the slight voltage increase due to the extra voltage draw, and thinking I have a trailer connected.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? And has anyone figured out how to remedy this problem? I went to my selling dealer, and they said as of now there is now solution from Ford, and they have had a similar complaint from other truck up-fitters.
Sorry for the long post. And thanks in advance for your help and expertise.
Marc
