Help, can't find 6.0 articles

Hello, I searched for some time and also got the spread sheets from Bismic, thank You and thanks to Sean for sending them to Me.

I can't get the picture links to work and there is lots of info regarding the several 'preventative' mods available for the 6.0 but no further information on the procedure to actually do it, maybe I'm missing something which is why I'm asking for some help.

There are two that I'm most interested, I have coolant whites on the outside of the overflow bottle and the engine gets a bit hot some times, I think this is related to the oil cooler or egr cooler not working.

Thanks in advance.

We have plenty of articles for repairs and EGR deletes. Give us a little history on the truck, you say hot? Is this reading by the dash cluster or actual temp readings?

Few things first, clean the degas bottle, make sure the coolant level is at the minimum line so it has space to expand. You need to be able to read the actual temperatures between the oil and coolant to determine if the oil cooler is becoming plugged.

If you determine a plugged oil cooler is in your future a cleaning with VC9 can be applied to flush the system.

The guys will be along to help you out

What picture links are you referring to?

The white solids is what we call puking. It can actually be caused by a number of issues (EGR cooler, head gaskets, weak water pump, plugged radiator, bad cap, overfilled coolant (degas) bottle, poor degas bottle cap seal, cracked degas bottle, etc).

How do you know the engine gets overly hot? Do you have gauges? If not, you should get them. A normal running engine will still be blistering hot - just the nature of the beast.

I filled My signature with info about the truck now, thank You.

I do not have gauges on this one yet the truck is almost bone stock (no power mods) and I agree it is much better to have an actual # instead of just guessing. Still I have a good eye for this engines and thought I would ask before something breaks or in case something could break before I get gauges.

Where is the level of coolant in the degas bottle and how many miles on the truck?
