I am installing my head gaskets, oem along with new oem bolts. Following torqueing instructions which says, 65 lbs-85 then 90-90&90 degrees. I was using a 3/4 drive beam torque wrench because it has a long handle. At the final 90 degree turn it read 190 ft lbs. I read some where that they should be torqued at 210. Do I leave them here or go by the torque wrench and go to 210? Also I was wondering if some one did have to reuse the old bolts for some reason do you still go by the mfg torque directions or just use a torque wrench and how many lbs. I am sure some one at one time or another reused their old bolts. I know the oem instructions are for new bolts because a certain amount of bolt stretch is involved in a new bolt. But after that bolt has been used and streched and is reused again, what would the torque be?
a few things here.
1. why would you do all that work and not use ARP head studs.
2. the 210 ft lbs. is for arp head studs not the factory TTY bolts.
3. yes you should use the 90 degree increments not the actual torque value
4. NEVER EVER reuse TTY bolts. New gaskets come with the bolts so I don't even see why anyone would do it.
