ECI conversion

Talk about an easy swap. I read through the installation instructions and no mention of a bearing adapter like most people thought there would be about 8 months ago. Now all I have to do is go buy all the rotors, calipers, bearings, and harware. I will post pictures of the whole thing once I start to build it up. Sounds like a tech article coming! But I will complete my 460 heads before I go ape on the brakes. Oh one more thing, I found that the 76 4X4 booster will mount up to the fire wall with out having interferance like a normal booster would. I will have pictures of this as well.

I purchased the larger kit from ECI to work on my '63. The kit has rotors out of a Ford, calipers out of a GM and the only extra I have had to buy where the brake hoses from the calipers to the frame. Everything just bolted into place and although my truck in not yet road worthy, I certainly don't anticpate any problems with the kit. Now I will have to build new brake lines from the power/master cylinder to the brakes themselves. My problem, which you may have just solved, was what type of powerboost/master brake system to use. I know you said you are gling to use a unit from a '76 4x4, but does that mean a power/master comb, or just the master? Will this unit also have the portioning set up to run front discs and rear drums? Is the 4x4 the big issue or the year? I, too, want something that will just bolt right up w/o any mods to the firewall. I could also buy the unit from ECI, but don't want to part with the $300 they want for it. I have been looking for a bolt in swap, but leave it up to guys like you to have the knowledge. Thanks, Jim

I won the whole assembly on ebay for $25. It was both the master and the booster. The 76 4X4 booster has a extention bracket on the back that moves the booster up and out from the fire wall. I can't say for sure about the porportioning of the master cylinder as of yet. I have a few things I am going to look at as far as a part # differance between rotor/ drum and a drum/ drum set up. I plan on running an adjustable porportioning valve.
