my a/c-heater control switch is doing things it shouldn't. the ac compressor runs on any setting except OFF, and the the a/c compressor will quite working intermittently. does anyone have a good source & ford part number for the switch? also would like to know of a good web site to look up ford parts numbers for future reference.

i had the same problem on my old 2000 super cab i had. i just had to buy a used one off ebay. i wasnt too bad and it was easy to replace..... they are known for this problem and are replaced quite often.
i was hoping to get a ford part # so i can source it in aftermarket parts places. my thinking is, if mine & others have the same issues, then i'll be buying another one with the same issues down the road.
i think you need to do a few more tests and see exactly what it is doing that it should not. The compressor does run in various positions other than "ac". The compressor is used as a dehumidifier to dry the air. Does ar real good job in defrost... Next, the AC cuts off... when? If you are low on gas (freon), there is a low pressure switch that will turn the copressor off for a a minute or so... What are the vacuum doors doing ? CAn you put the selector to defrost or floor or vent and make the air go where you want ? Is the **** slipping on the shaft or is it tight and turns good ?
i never had another problem after i fixed it. my switched was all messed up it did wierd things for no reason.... a new one is expensive but worth the money to fix the problem
