Throttle Position Sensor Location

Was wondering where the TPS sensor is located on my 1992 Ford F150 with the 302. Any help is appreciated.

Would a bad tps sensor cause a hard/no start the truck will start but only when I pump the gas pedal like crazy and when it does start its runs like **** and when letting off the gas dies right away I got a code for the tps and the wire does look bad so replacing it when the part comes but just wondering if that could cause the issue I’m having

It’s not a carburetor so “pumping the gas” isn’t doing anything. You said you got a code for the TPS so what voltage and resistance readings did you get when you tested the sensor?

I get that but the truck starts when gas pedal is pumped repeatedly when trying with out u won’t get much next to nothing and I haven’t tested anything not to sure on how to test the wires but I could give it a shot but from inspecting the wire one is almost pulled out of the sensor itself and the copper wire is showing and it’s from 1989 plus the code so my guess is that

Pumping the accelerator on a fuel injected one will overfuel it hard
Your fuel pump is failing IMO
I'd check the fuel pressure

Yes, trouble shoot the TPS code.

Do you know how to check resistance with a VOM?

Do that before going down the suggested fuel pump rabbit hole.

fule pumps and fuel tanks are brand new fule pressure is at 30-35 psi more towards 30 the original pumps where the 1989 low pressure style I did swap to the 1990 in tank high pressure pumps but everything seems to work with the pumps so I don’t think anything is mixed up I also replaced fuel pressure regulator and relay

I do not but I will watch a video and figure it out tps deff looks broke but idk if they would cause my issue I did replace the engine and harness with a 1989 and the cab is a 1990 motor went out droped in a 351 and used the 1990 fuel tank set up with the 1989 harness and pcm pumps work tho so I don’t think the wires are an issue but I’m lost at this point

Well, TPS is on the bottom of throttle body. It has to come off to replace. Make sure you have a gasket for TB.

It works like a light dimmer in how it talks to computer.

If you replace, for all that's Holy, use a Motorcraft part.
