I've been having a problem recently with my 95 Ford F150. Soemtimes when i go to step on the gas, i get no response, no movement and no rev. Also when i'm driving sometimes, it will begin to slow down and i have to press down hard on the gas to get it going again and then it jumps into passing gear right away. This only happens once and a while. I was wondering if it could be the Throttle Position Sensor?
I'm new with my truck, so and not very educated on it. Need some help with this problem. Thanks.
Do a search by either TPS or Throttle Position Sensor and you should be able to find a test procedure for the TPS. If you can get a hold of an automotive multitester, like a Fluke 78,etc., you can check the TPS with it.
Then go to fordfuelinjection.com and read up on how to check for codes using the sti plug and the CEL (Check Engine Light) or go by Autozone and see if they can check them for you. There is a lot of really good info on the ford site. Take note of the best viewed resolution they say. The majority of internet stuff is 800 x 600, but the higher resolution on the fordfuelinjection.com site will view better. Autozone will probably say if the CEL is not lit they can't read codes. There are (3) types of codes, however, KOEO (Key On Engine Off), CM (Continous Memory) and KOER (Key On Engine Running). The fordfuelinjection.com is worth looking a most all of it.
I would agree that removing it would make it a lot easier to get to the fasteners. You might have a little problem finding a throttle body gasket that is not in a set. I know a gasket comes in an upper intake gasket set for about $12, but don't know if they have one separate.
