I'm Moving On
To those that were here when I joined, I did a good bit of modding based on your advice and don't regret a bit of it. I also found fixes to a lot of little things that dealers just can't seem to fix, and saved a LOT of money in the process. All that sponging off of you soon took a back seat to wanting to be a part of the most helpful group of guys and gals I've ever come across. Thanks.
To those of you new around here: Listen to the guys that have been around the block and you will get the most out of your Excursion--guaranteed.
Hopefully I've paid some of the help forward.
Later,
Stew
The only difference is the fact I won't be selling my Excursion with 55,000 miles on it for stupid low prices like $6,000 to $10,000. I will take the battery out and probably park it in the far back side of my yard and enjoy looking out the window at it for years to come. I can get a nice metal carport put over it for about $600. And I will have to wash it and wax it about once a year maybe.
Another issue that concerns me is not gas prices, my wife and I make good money (she makes much more than I do, she landed a good job when the female affirmative action thing was going on!). It's the fact I can get 14 mpg on a Suburban compared to 8 mpg on the Excursion. I want to use less fuel so the oil companies can't get a total satifaction as they rape us and report record profits every quarter for the last 5 years.
Expeditions/Suburbans. Plus, my '07 Tahoe was getting 15 +/- MPG
with 197K - but it was looking/feeling very tired.
I can't justify the new vehicle prices to get worse fuel mileage.
Yeah, all the new bells & whistles are really nice - but compared
to my '97 I've got some nice upgrades in the '05.
I'm not a mini-van person, and I haul the family on long drives
so the PSD and capacity work out well in my situation also.
So, the Ex w/PSD is working out wonderfully for me.
My '05 interior is in mint condition and it rides great now with
my new shocks and hellwig.
