hello, i bought a fuel filter from autozone for my 97 power stroke and the top screw on cap is a little different and the filter is a white color i was wondering if any one has used this filter and can give me a heads up on it, thanks. gary

 

I did for a few thousand miles and never had a problem. Switched to electric fuel but it seemed to filter well.

 

The auto zone filter is all i use,on my other 95 truck i put around 100k on it and so far i have put about 40k on this one,no problem. Jim

 

I've seen different style caps fun several different places. long as it is the right size and seals well id not be worried

 

thanks, i have only 7000 mi. on the napa fuel filter that is in it, man if you have that many miles on your filter i think i better wait a lot longer before i even think about putting it in, i thoght those fuel filters where clogged up by 7 or 8000 mi. thanks. gary

 

I TRY TO CHANGE MINE AT ABOUT 10K MILES THE LAST ONE I LET GO FOR ABOUT 15K,THIS WAS TOO LONG ,HAD MORE PEP AFTER I CHANGED IT.i WOULD RECOMEND CHANGING IT AT 10K MILES.

I hate the autozone/advanced auto filters.

get a good one at napa.

 

Talyn.What is wrong with the autozone filter,maybe i have been running the wrong brand for 150k miles.

Jim, I don't think there is anything wrong with it. That is just his OPINION. If you've been running them for 150k with no issues, I'd sure not worry..

 

The filter itself seems okay.

Its the cap I dislike.

Plus metal on the filter, there is moisture in diesel fuel. That just spells disaster for me if you let the truck sit too long.
