How to avoid bending push rods??

I have read here that a few fellows have had problems bending their push rods after replacing their head gaskets. I have my engine out and replacing a piston and two valves due to a turbo going bad. I dont want to bend any push rods when I put it back together. Seems like I saw a bullitan that said something about having the notch on your viberation damper at 6 oclock or catstrophic failure could occour. I dont see a notch on my viberation damper. I dont see how you could not get the push rods in wrong. Any help appreciated. What are they refering to as catstrophic failure?

It's the best/simplest explanation of the procedure. Remember to roll the motor over several times BY HAND before the final head bolt torque.
