So today after I got off work I decided to take off my lower dash panel on my 91 with the light switch, wipers and fuel selector. I got the wiper **** off and the panel out a little ways to get the fuel selector out but for the life of me I can't get the light switch **** off. Does the entire switch need to come out? or is there some other trick.
Also the reason I am doing this is to get the green film off to run red dash lights. Well when I pulled the panel back it is just a single bulb in the dash and the back of the panel has a black housing/tube that the light slips into to distribute the light to the switches. I didn't want to mess with it just in case I couldn't get it back on. Any Ideas are appreciated.
Alright thanks, I hadn't gotten that far on the guages yet was just messing with the lower panels to see if I could do this or not. Do you know if I can do the lower panels due to the tunnel the lamp goes into? I will take a pic and upload once I get the plate off to show what I mean.
Not really anything you can screw up. Just dont lay the gauges face down.
Or scrape too much off....And take the black along too....Then it'll be fugly looking.....I have a extra set of faces...For the shipping, I'd do it....
would any body happen have pics of in the process so i kno what im looking for?? cant afford to mess this up,really debating on doing it or not may just deal with the green for now.
Its a simple thing...when you pull the faces...The black you see on the outside (Gauge in position on dash) is actually the first layer; Along with the white you see (Numbers, etc) the green filter is a second layer....
So when you pull the gauge faces, and flip them over, the green is what is laying on top, and you scrape away....
BUT
If you go TOO far, and get into the black/white....It'll show through as light spots...I mean, its a EASY thing to see if you screw up....
Best advice? Scratch a lil bit, hold it up to the light...You'll see the green filter is coming off or not...
